Who Is Eligible for Hospice Care?
The admission criteria are as follows:

• The patient must have a progressive life-threatening illness or condition such as cancer, AIDS, end-stage renal disease, etc. with a life expectancy of days, weeks, or months, not years.
  
  
• The patient must have completed all curative treatment, and the patient and family must be willing to focus on physical, emotional, and spiritual comfort.
  
  
• There must be enough support from family and friends to safely maintain the patient at home, wherever home is, whether that's his/her own home, a friend or family member's home, a nursing home or assisted living facility.
  
  
• The patient's attending physician must approve the admission.
  
  
• The patient must live within the area served by Judith Karman Hospice, Inc.
